Wayne has been involved in the Arts scene for over 30 years. Originally from Zimbabwe, migrating to Australia in 1966.
He held the position of Technical Designer for RAT (Recreational Arts Team Pty. Ltd.) for a period of about five years in the late 80’s early 90’s. He was also the Technical Designer for a number of Sydney Gay Mardi Gras’ and Sleaze Balls.
He has had a keen interest in welding for over 20 years and has created some amazing sculptures that are now in the hands of private collections.
He has shown in 3 previous exhibitions but found that selling direct and through public avenues was less costly.
Predominantly stainless steel, with elements of copper, brass, bone, crystal and or acrylic.
My inspiration is probably derived from my love of Ancient History and Archaeology. The ideas seem to solidify within my mind’s eye and then the process from there to physical reality is one of reproduction. I hope the viewers of this page enjoy my creations as much as I do.
Art is something I have to create rather than needing to for profit or gain. I find that if I don't create these images in my head, it physically hurts. I have always made ‘things’, even as a young child. I love the permanence of stainless steel, and this is what initially attracted me to welding.
